Hey I’m Sarah and if you’re searching for someone who is addicted to dancing and chatting about all things dance, then you’ve found me.
I believe that the right dance style needs to compliment your body, like a fine wine compliments a good steak (also addicted to wine food).
Dance is for EVERYONE and if you really want to feel good about moving in your own skin, then you just need to find the right style for YOU.
“Embrace your body, express yourself and step into your inner confidence with feel good dancing. Make dance part of your everyday lives, encorporating music and movement into your daily routine.”
I have always been a bit of a jack of all trades and I love to explore all types of exercise and creative arts. As I got older I realised its not just about how our bodies look, or how that final painting is perceived, but how these activities make us feel. What is important is the journey we take and how we develop and grow confident, over a period of time.
My love for entertaining and being silly came from my dad, although it wasn’t obvious until more recently. He would always tell me off for dancing around him in the kitchen while he cooked, but it would make him laugh, so I continued to do it.
Sadly my dad unexpectedly passed away during the pandemic in January 2021. What saved me were my dance classes, which I had continued teaching on Zoom. The students that make me accountable, the music which is uplifting and the endorphins released from the exercise. I make sure that his continues today and everyday.
Needless to say, the best memory I have of my dad was teaching him (along with my mum, 1 of my sisters and 2 of my brothers) to dance for our wedding day, and watching the video back.
I started dancing at the age of 3 and yes, it was (like most other little girls) Ballet. After realising my interests may have been for something less strict and more free, I went on to Disco dancing, which came with choreography. After many different after school dance clubs, I gained a GCSE in Dance and then went on to a Ban (Hons) Dance Degree. During this time I fell in love with community dance subject and quickly decided that this was the route I wanted to head down, after graduating.
To keep me excited and motivated, I focus on the types of exercise I CAN do. Something I can grow to love and become confident with. A physical activity that doesn’t take up too much time, while the children are small, as well as choreography I can practice with my husband at home, while the small ones are sleeping.
With the positive impact dance can have on your life, social interaction, mood boosting, helping you relax after a stressful day and improving co-ordination and stability and peoples’ smiley faces, are just a few of the benefits.
Dance with Sarah formally known as SK Dance, is currently in it’s 13th year and like many other aspects of life, it has evolved to suit my body, my family and my interests. Having my first child showed me a different direction in which my business could grow. Three children later and I am making the best memories at home with them, all whilst creating a new framework that suits our lives but also supports your journey with confidence.
